Mahina brings over 15 years of experience in the nightlife industry, with a strong foundation in the arts, holding multiple degrees in the field. After a successful career in Las Vegas and Honolulu, she transitioned to the healing arts in 2020, driven by a calling to make a deeper impact on society.
Upon returning to Hawai‘i, Mahina became acutely aware of the social, economic, and political challenges facing the islands and the world. She recognized the urgent need to protect natural habitats essential for sustaining life while confronting the unchecked greed of corporate, military, and government entities. This struggle mirrors ongoing global issues, from the Amazon and the Congo to South Africa, Indigenous lands in North America, Israel, Ukraine, and beyond—including the historical and present-day mistreatment of Native Hawaiians.
Passionate about peace, unity, and accountability, Mahina stands as a powerful advocate for social justice and systemic change. She believes that progress requires raising voices and confronting the abuses of power that have persisted through history. Her guiding principle: we are stronger when united.
As the founder of the nonprofit organization Roots ‘Ohana, Mahina draws from personal experiences of poverty and homelessness. She envisions a future where creative spaces foster healing, collaboration, and community building. By promoting cultural diversity and co-creation, she believes nature, music and art can bridge divides, mend wounds, and inspire meaningful change.

With the heart of an artist and the mind of an engineer, Kristin possesses a diverse professional skill set and a unique ability to bridge the spiritual and technological worlds. Driven by a proclivity for complex problem-solving and systems thinking, she holds a degree in Industrial Engineering and began her career at a Silicon Valley tech company. Feeling burnt out and exploited by corporate interests, she left the field to explore mind-body healing practices, performing arts, and her relationship with nature.
This exploration led her to Hawai‘i Island, where she apprenticed under a permaculture designer and deepened her understanding of the reciprocal relationship between people and land. She later transitioned to a leadership role at a Native Hawaiian-focused nonprofit, managing and scaling its regenerative tourism initiative.
Kristin is dedicated to fostering a harmonious co-evolution between humans and Earth, using her diverse skill set to support initiatives that promote sustainable, community-centered solutions.
